Install the Smart PreCompact skill for me (the folder smart-precompact, which I added to the project or just downloaded). Please:
1. Check which Python I have: python3 --version, and if that does not work, python --version. It needs to be 3.8 or newer. If there is none, tell me, install only the skill (step 2) and skip the hook.
2. Copy the whole folder, including the hidden .claude-plugin folder, to my global skills folder: ~/.claude/skills/smart-precompact on Mac and Linux, %USERPROFILE%\.claude\skills\smart-precompact on Windows. Not into this project. If a folder with that name already exists there, this is an update: save my config.md outside ~/.claude/skills, replace the folder, and put config.md back. Never leave a backup copy of the skill inside ~/.claude/skills.
3. Run the tests with the Python you found: ~/.claude/skills/smart-precompact/scripts/test_compact_hook.py, and tell me whether they passed.
4. Explain to me in two lines what the hook does (README.md, the "The hook" section), and ask whether to install it. If I approve: run scripts/install_hook.py with the same Python, and then scripts/compact_hook.py --test.
5. At the end, delete the temporary copy (from the project or from the download), and tell me exactly this: "Open a new conversation in Claude Code and send any message in it. In the reply Claude will say the hook works and how full the context is. After the first reply, the Smart PreCompact band shows above the prompt: how full the context is, and a Smart compact button that prepares and compacts in one press. No band? Your Claude Code version does not run mods yet, and everything else works. In this conversation none of this happens, because the hook and the band only load in a new conversation. You can run the skill manually with /smart-precompact." If we did not install the hook, leave out the sentence about the hook.
